The SIMMED Congress returns in presence

After two years, the SIMMED Congress is in-person once again with a program built by the Community that involves all professions.

The two years of the pandemic have once again highlighted the centrality of healthcare safety. The need to train professionals according to homogeneous models for the entire SNS has grown. This forced us to reflect on basic university training programs, graduate schools, health professions and general practitioners.

In this context, once again SIMMED intends to promote the use of simulation as a tool to improve the quality of care and reduce the risk of patients. Precisely with this in mind, the SIMMED 2022 National Congress will be the moment, after these two years, to once again share the experiences of the Centers, to provide opportunities for cultural growth through an original scientific program and to promote the sharing and collaboration between the members of our Community. The annual Congress is historically a useful opportunity for discussion for all of us, an event open to the participation of those who contribute to improving patient safety through simulation training. The objective of the 2022 Congress is to give, through involvement and participation, an acceleration to our Society’s will to build a direct line with the various professionals who work around simulation (academicians, clinicians, trainers, technicians, simulated patient actors and companies).

This year we will attend again in presence and the University of Padua will receive us for the first time at the Palazzo della Salute. The structure of the congress event will be similar to that of last year, structured in different journeys [workshop], focused on different types of simulation and focused on topics of special relevance both for the professional who approaches simulation, and for those who have been using it for years. However, this year’s programwill buildon workshop proposals that have come to our Society directly from our community to increase participation and sharing. We will dedicate an entire session to the best video-summaries and we will try to give ample space to the different professionals that make up the world of simulation: among them the simulation technician, with a series of workshops dedicated to the most technological aspects of this method of training. Finally, a workshop will be reserved for the directors of the simulation centers and laboratories for the most organizational and management aspects.

Finally, the congress will be attended by two prestigious guests with conferences of great scientific and cultural importance: Rita Enrica Fioravanzo, from the European Institute of Psychotraumatology and Stress Management in Milan, will open the proceedings on Friday, and David Grant, president of Bristol Medical Simulation Center and former president of SESAM, will be the protagonist of the session on Saturday.
